Australian Poker Tour Heads Back to Sydney In June

As 2021 welcomed poker players back to many aspects of their pre-pandemic lives, the Australian Poker Tour provided that tournament series poker action that players had been missing. The APT had been on hold for most of 2020, as the beginning of a pandemic turned to waves of Covid-19 cases that prompted one postponement after another.

The tour did host a successful series in Brisbane in October of last year to test the waters. That led to another APT Brisbane in January 2021 with nearly double the tournaments and prize money awarded.

Tour organizers most recently hosted the APT Gold Coast in March, and they are now preparing for a long-awaited return to Sydney in June.

APT Gold Coast Delivered

The Australian Poker Tour hosted its March series at Southport Sharks, complete with 21 tournaments and estimates of at least $900K in prize pools.

It actually went very well. Players were more than a little excited to return to the APT tables.

  • Event 2: $2,500 NLHE Goliath = 189 entries, $412,300 prize pool ($250K est)

  • Event 4: $80 NLHE Deepstack = 270 entries, $16,570 ($10K est)
  • Event 5: $660 NLHE 6-Max = 119 entries, $67,735 prize pool ($30K est)
  • Event 6: $120 NLHE Mix-Max = 166 entries, $15,680 prize pool ($10K est)
  • Event 7: $1K NLHE Players Championship = 254 entries, $204,200 prize pool ($100K est)
  • Event 8: $200 NLHE Main Event = 950 entries, $157,850 prize pool ($150K est)
  • Event 9: $80 NLHE 6-Max Shootout = 192 entries, $12,675 prize pool ($7,500 est)
  • Event 10: $1,200 NLHE Grind = 376 entries, $374,965 prize pool ($150K est)
  • Event 11: $80 Pineapple = 128 entries, $7,825 prize pool ($7,500 est)
  • Event 12: $80 NLHE Ladies Championship = 87 entries, $5,655 prize pool ($4K est)
  • Event 13: $100 NLHE Big Bounty = 258 entries, $20,740 prize pool ($10K est)
  • Event 14: $350 NLHE National Teams = 52 teams, $15,530 prize pool ($10K est)
  • Event 15: $120 NLHE 120 = 372 entries, $35,245 prize pool ($20K est)
  • Event 16: $1,200 Big PLO = 96 entries, $99,665 prize pool ($30K est)
  • Event 17: $120 NLHE 6-Max Championship = 234 entries, $22,135 prize pool ($10K est)
  • Event 18: $450 NLHE High Roller = 479 entries, $181,925 prize pool ($75K est)
  • Event 19: $60 NLHE Megastack = 195 entries, $9,170 prize pool ($7,500 est)
  • Event 20: $800 PLO/NLHE High Roller = 66 entries, $43,795 prize pool ($30K est)
  • Event 21: $60 PLO Frenzy = 156 entries, $7,135 prize pool ($5K est)

Altogether, the 6,485 entries equaled a total amount of $2,021,670 awarded to players.

Next Up: APT Sydney in June

The next stop cannot come soon enough for some players. But considering APT Sydney is not scheduled to start until mid-June, poker players have plenty of time to build their bankrolls, schedule child care, and set up their accommodations.

The series will run 21-27 June with a series estimate of $1.75M across 31 tournaments It will take place at the Cube Sydney (The Cube Entertainment Centre) in Campbelltown.
